By now, it's old news to talk about the record numbers being put up by the World Series of Poker main event. The last couple of years have built fields that the early WSOP fathers would never have expected. But, just for grins, let's take a look at the numbers for the last few years.
WSOP 2000: 512
WSOP 2001: 613
WSOP 2002: 631
WSOP 2003: 839
WSOP 2004: 2,576
WSOP 2005: 5,619
Okay. Again, I know we all know those numbers. But, there's something else I'd like you to take a look at.
As of this moment (11:53am ET), PokerStars has qualified 678 of its players for the main event of the 2006 World Series of Poker.
That's right. Six hundred seventy-eight. That's more than the entire 2002 WSOP field. That's with two months of qualifying left to go, not to mention the 150-Seat Guaranteed WSOP super satellite on July 16th.
Last year, PokerStars sent more than 1,100 players to the WSOP. While you never know what will happen, it seems pretty clear, the number will be bigger than that this year.
One thing that is drawing a lot of interest among PokerStars players is the final table incentives PokerStars is offering. If you're still working on winning your seat or want to learn more about the final table incentives, feel free to visit PokerStars WSOP pages.
