EPT Monte Carlo: Table of Cannibals and Goodbye ElkY
It is with a heavy heart we must bid goodbye to PokerStars' friend and the first PokerStars VIP Club Supernova Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. After a day of running on the shortstack, he finally committed his final 3000 chips pre-flop with KJ suited in spades. After no small amount of thought, Ross Boatman called with AQ. The flop gave ElkY one spade. So, did the turn, but it was the ace, both increasing and reducing ElkY's outs. The river was no help and ElkY joined the rail, along with Liz Lieu who left a bit ago, as well.
In other news, Team PokerStars has a decent chance of cannibalizing itself, as Greg Raymer and Lee Nelson have been moved to the same table. In one tense moment, Raymer raised from the button, Nelson re-raised from the small blind, and Raymer jammed. Nelson thought for a full five minutes before mucking. The table is as tough as it can be. Nathan Hargis of Tampa, FL is sitting there with more than 40,000. One French and one Nordic pro are also sitting there and are both known to be tough players.

Fine, not so young cannibals

Two hours are left in Day 1B's first day of play. Then it's time to combine the flights. That's when things get interesting.
